We make the most beautiful items from bags to placemats to patchwork crochet. You actually get to choose your own project and Lynne guides you throughout. She is an awesome teacher and friend - always pleasant, patient (it could actually be her second name!) and extremely uplifting.
The venue is Lynne and her husband's lovely home which they opened up to her students. We feel like we're permanently on holiday when we're there! We are a fun group of ladies who laugh a lot and spur each other on all the time. Going to class is my "me time" to get away from all the crazies. I love it!
PS. Lynne's hubby makes the best coffee! Warning: This is extremely addictive!

Teaching is a tough job, and we should give teachers the credit they deserve. I taught myself how to crochet from the YouTube tutorials but... Lynne taught me much more than those videos. She allowed all of us to crochet in a way we found comfortable rather than trying to force one particular method on us. She's friendly, sweet, encouraging, positive, funny, patient, clear, supportive and engaging.”Couldn’t have asked for a better teacher.”
She makes the lesson fun. She patiently answers all questions, and if she is unsure she'll quickly research and explain it to us the way we could understand. She taught me how to relax and enjoy myself which was a bonus. I would like to thank Lynne and Nigel for opening their home and making us feel at home and smell the coffee :)
Lynne thank you for allowing my sister, Rholdah to be part of our amazing crocheting group. So looking forward to my next class.

“In June 2019 I started crochet classes with Lynne Adriaanse. I had no idea how to crochet except for making a chain.
With all her patience and skills she taught me how to do all the different stiches, so much so that I have crocheted many articles.
The granny square blanket which I crochet for my granddaughter. To join them and crochet the border around the blanket. The following project was to crochet round placemats with the coasters, baby cocoon and runners. Not only where we taught the different stitches but how to read a pattern.
There are occasions that we have workshop days, then we all do the same project.
Classes are held at Lynne’s home. She is so full of passion, love and care for every student that attends her classes. She has all the patience in the world and treats us all with respect. (As we respect her and her values)
We are all different ages, and laughter, fun and relaxing is all part of the experience.
Thank you so much Lynne for teaching me so much in such a short time frame (six months).”

The crochet class which Lynne presents is a wonderful few hours per month of learning new skills and creativity as well as connection and fun with like-minded ladies who love the craft. We share ideas, patterns and skills and learn from each other.
It is my form of therapy and my happy place away from home.
Lynne is a very talented and creative teacher who makes sure the basics are in place before she moves to new skill levels. She is thorough in her teaching methods and research, with clear goals being set for each learner at their own level of expertise.
The ambience in Lynne's class is relaxed and laid-back, however an expectation of specific goals being met by each learner is clearly indicated during each class.”

How to Read A Crochet Pattern Workshop
I loved the crochet classes with Lynne I arrived barely knowing how to crochet and in a very short time I am able to read a pattern. We received very helpful notes from which I can use to continue alone. I also enjoyed the interaction with the other crochet enthusiasts. Highly recommended!

How To Read A Crochet Pattern - Workshop
Although I have crocheted for years it has always been simple granny squares or rows of trebles in a blanket - when I spotted the course on offer I thought it would be of benefit. I was not wrong!
- How the workshop helped in a recent project?
- - I have nearly completed the Baby Pandamonium project - having only crocheted in doubles and trebles before it was challenging and interesting to learn about all types of crossovers, popcorn, bobbles etc. etc. Without Lynne's course and her notes to hand I would never have attempted. I only have to apply the border but have to say I am extremely proud of the result thus far.
- Your views on the presentation itself?
- - very clear and easy to follow - both with practical demos and clear on line diagrams and notes
- What was the learning environment like?
- - comfortable and relaxing - a lovely warm atmosphere with lots of light hearted banter but Lynne keeping a close watch on us and keeping us on track
- The level of skill of the teacher?
- - top class
- Explain how the practical application helped you understand the theory better?
- - I have found myself really studying the stitches to understand the formation of a stitch, the row count and the stitch count.
I would not hesitate to recommend this class to anyone wanting to up their skill level in crochet, it is exciting for me to browse through craft books and know that I could follow a pattern. Now if I could only have more time ?

How To Read A Crochet Pattern Workshop
My main aim in attending this workshop was mostly to understand and expect to read a crochet pattern and how to work through it. For me, this was an extremely important and useful workshop that I attended as I do most of my projects from YouTube and always wanted to read a pattern. I was able to understand the difference between US and UK terminologies. I learned the mystery behind curved and square brackets and of course the abbreviations of most of the stitches we use. I enjoyed how the workshop was structured and your explanations in how to read a pattern was clear and extremely helpful. I felt very comfortable in asking questions even though it was an obvious way of doing a stitch you were very patient in explaining it which I really appreciated. My niece has begged me to make her a crochet beach dress for some time now. I am proud to say, that I am busy making the dress reading the pattern. WOW!!! I would definitely recommend anyone interested in learning to crochet to attend your workshops. I appreciate all that you do to increase my crochet knowledge and help keep it fun and interesting! Thank You!

How To Read A Crochet Pattern Workshop
I joined Crochet Classes Cape Town a little over a year ago, as a beginner. I didn't know a chain one from a slip stitch haha. Patterns were Greek to me and there were many times when I turned projects away because I couldn't read it. I fully relied on Lynne for guidance. Then she introduced this workshop. After attending the workshop all I can say is "Throw me a pattern and I'll sing it back to you" LOL. Of all the workshops that I attended at CCCT, this must have been the most enlightening. It was like a light bulb switched on. By now I knew the basic stitches, but I still didn't feel like a crocheter because I couldn't read a pattern. This workshop taught me how to differentiate when it's US or UK terms, how to read brackets and lots more. I've recently taken on a project where each row is a different set of stitches, which means a different pattern. I could actually read it without any assistance (okay okay, a white lie - but that wasn't because I didn't understand the pattern, it was a technical and intricate stitch issue). Lynne comes with a host of crochet knowledge that she acquired in the more than 30 years that she's been doing this. The notes, presentation and samples that we made in the workshop are all super easy to follow and set out simplistically. The environment is very light-hearted with lots of banter and laughing amongst the students, but we get the job done. This is a MUST for any beginner or even the seasoned crocheter who cannot read a pattern. Take my word, it's worth it - you will never turn away a beautiful project ever again!

How To Read A Crochet Pattern Workshop
This workshop was very well presented and structured. Lynne is very good at imparting knowledge and skills in a fun and practical way. The learning environment is conducive to workshop presenting and class attendance and is comfortable and inviting.
The first session of the workshop focused on the terminology most commonly used in patterns as well as the types of stitches we are likely to encounter. What was great was that the practical application accompanied the theory which helped cement the skills being learnt. The second session encouraged the learners to find a pattern they wanted to follow and to make an item of their choice. Lots of encouragement and assistance was provided by Lynne, who is extremely knowledgeable and skilled in all things crochet!
I thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and would highly recommend attending one in future.
